As a 2019 Merolini, at the internationally acclaimed Merola Opera Program (San Francisco, California), Cara Collins is Brittomara, the shape shifting and seductive devil, in the world premiere of If I Were You by American composer Jake Heggie and librettist

Gene Scheer. 



Native Texan, Mezzo-Soprano, Cara Collins graduated from Purchase Conservatory of Music (Purchase, New York) where she performed in Madama Butterfly as Suzuki, The Crucible as Elizabeth Proctor, L’incoronazione di Poppea as Ottavia, Le nozze di Figaro as Marcellina, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Hippolyta. Collins also received training from Westchester Summer Vocal Institute Taos Opera Institute, and Classical Lyric Arts - Italy.


Cara Collins made her professional debut as a Resident Artist in 2017 at  Opera North  (Lebanon, New Hampshire) with her cover of Suzuki from Madama Butterfly.

Collins also performed Il Barbiere Di Siviglia at Opera North as a Resident Artist in 2018 and received acclaim for her "hilarious romp as Bartolo's housekeeper Berta" by the Rutland Herald; as well as Les Contes d’Hoffmann as Nicklaus (cover)/ The Voice

In 2018, as a Tyler Young Artist at Opera at the James (Lynchburg, Virginia) she performed in Trouble in Tahiti as Dinah


In the Winter Festival Season 2019, as a Sarasota Apprentice Artist, at Sarasota Opera ( Sarasota, Florida) she performed in The Magic Flute as Third Lady.  

Cara Collins is currently a 2019 Merola Artist in San Francisco, California and is scheduled to perform in  Amarillo Opera's (Amarillo, Texas) performance of Die Fledermaus as Prince Orlofsky
