Native Texan, Cara Collins recently was awarded the District Winner and Regional Encouragement Award for the Metropolitan National Council Audition. Cara opened the 2021 season singing Flora in La Traviata with Opera Naples. Following she sang Tisbe in La Cenerentola at Northern Lights Music Festival and Gertrude in Hänsel und Gretel at Amarillo Opera.
As a 2019 Merolini, at the internationally acclaimed Merola Opera Program (San Francisco, California), Cara Collins sang
Brittomara, the shape shifting and seductive devil, in the world premiere of If I Were You by American composer Jake Heggie and librettist Gene Scheer. She received acclaim for her "power and dark hued radiance, and her patter aria in disguise as a ditsy hairdresser".
Ms.Collins has also sung with Palm Beach Opera, Opera Naples, Amarillo Opera, Northern Light Music Festival, Sarasota Opera, Opera on the James, and Opera North. Several role credits include, Dinah (Trouble in Tahiti), Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), Berta (Il Barbiere Di Siviglia), Suzuki (Madama Butterfly), Dritte Dame (Die Zauberflöte),
Nicklaus/Voice (Les Contes d'Hoffmann)
Cara is a graduate of Purchase Conservatory of Music (Purchase, New York)
where she performed in The Crucible as Elizabeth Proctor, L’incoronazione di Poppea as Ottavia, Le nozze di Figaro as Marcellina, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Hippolyta. Collins received training from Westchester Summer Vocal Institute, Taos Opera Institute, and Classical Lyric Arts - Italy.
